Falcons Sign Former Alabama QB Blake Sims To Practice Squad

Matt Zenitz reports that the Falcons have signed Blake Sims to their practice squad on Tuesday.

The Falcons’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. DE Nordly Capi
  2. CB Devonte Johnson
  3. WR J.D. McKissic
  4. S Sharrod Neasman
  5. QB Matt Simms
  6. TE D.J. Tialavea
  7. QB Blake Sims
  8. CB Deji Olatoye
  9. DT Joe Vellano  
  10. WR Nick Williams

Sims worked out for the Falcons and Buccaneers in recent weeks, but wasn’t signed to a contract. Before that, Sims tried out for the Packers and Redskins.

Sims, 24, wound up going undrafted out of Alabama back in May and has yet to secure an opportunity with an NFL team.

During his college career at Alabama, Sims completed 275 of 430 passing attempts (64 percent) for 3,731 yards, 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also contributed 705 yards rushing on 150 carries (4.7 YPC) to go along with nine rushing touchdowns.
