Falcons Sign Former Cowboys RB Gus Johnson To Practice Squad

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports that the Falcons are signing former Cowboys RB Gus Johnson to their practice squad on Tuesday.

Atlanta will need to release someone from their practice squad to make room for Johnson, as they’re currently at the 10-man limit.

The Falcons’ practice squad currently consists of:

  1. WR Laron Byrd
  2. G Ben Garland
  3. RB Jahwan Edwards
  4. LB Derek Akunne
  5. TE Marcel Jensen
  6. CB Akeem King
  7. LB Stansly Maponga (Exception)
  8. NT Joey Mbu
  9. QB Matt Simms (Exception)
  10. LB Tyler Starr

Johnson, 22, originally signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Stephen F. Austin back in May. He lasted just a few days with Oakland before he was waived and later signed on with the Cowboys.

Since then, Johnson has been on and off of the team’s practice squad before Dallas waived him last week.

During the preseason, Johnson ran for 139 yards on 37 carries (3.8 YPC) to go along with two receptions for five yards and two total touchdowns over the course of four games.
