Falcons Sign LB Matt Wells, Waive LB Dominique Tovell

The Atlanta Falcons signed LB Matt Wells and waive LB Dominique Tovell on Tuesday, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter.

Wells, 25, is a former sixth-round pick of the Patriots back in May of last year. He lasted just a few months in New England before he was traded to the Bears in return for G Ryan Groy.

Chicago elected to waive Wells at the start of the season and he later signed on to the Rams’ practice squad. Los Angeles elected to bring him back on a future/reserve contract in January, but wound up cutting him loose in June.

Wells has yet to appear in an NFL game.

Tovell, 24, wound up signing on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Louisiana-Lafayette back in May. He lasted just over a month in New Orleans before later signing on with the Lions.

The Falcons signed him to a few weeks ago before waiving him soon after.
