Falcons Sign QB Trevor Knight To Practice Squad, Release DT Taniela Tupou

The Atlanta Falcons have signed QB Trevor Knight to their practice squad on Wednesday, according to D. Orlando Ledbetter. The Falcons also released DT Taniela Tupou from the unit.

The Falcons’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. DB Marcelis Branch
  2. OT Daniel Brunskill
  3. WR Deante Burton
  4. TE Alex Gray (International)
  5. WR Marvin Hall
  6. DE J.T. Jones
  7. TE Joshua Perkins
  8. RB Jhurell Pressley
  9. NT Joe Vellano (Exception)
  10. G Jamil Douglas (Exception)
  11. QB Trevor Knight

The Buccaneers brought Knight in for a visit on Tuesday, but it appears as though the Falcons were his best option in the end.

Knight, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of Texas A&M back in May. He was set to make base salaries of $465,000 and $555,000 over the first two years of the contract when the Cardinals cut him loose this past weekend.

During his college career at Oklahoma and Texas A&M, Knight threw for 5,856 yards while completing 55.5 percent of his passes to go along with 44 touchdowns and 26 interceptions and a quarterback rating of 124.2 over the course of 35 games. He also rushed for 1,467 yards and 18 touchdowns.
