Falcons Sign RB Terron Ward To Practice Squad, Cut RB Blake Sims

The Atlanta Falcons announced Friday that they’ve signed RB Terron Ward to  their practice squad and waive RB Blake Sims from the unit.

The Falcons’ practice squad now consists of:

  5. CB Deji Olatoye
  6. DT Joe Vellano
  7. RB Terron Ward
  8. WR Nick Williams

Ward, 24, wound up signing on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Oregon State back in May of last year. He was in the second year of his three-year, $1.575 million contract and set to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season before he was waived on Thursday to make room for LB O’Brien Schofield.

In 2015, Ward appeared in 13 games for the Falcons and ran for 95 yards on 29 carries (3.3 YPC) to go along with nine receptions for 73 yards receiving and one touchdown.

Sims, 24, wound up going undrafted out of Alabama back in May.  He worked for the Falcons, Buccaneers, Packers and Redskins before signing on to the Falcons’ practice squad a few weeks ago.

During his college career at Alabama, Sims completed 275 of 430 passing attempts (64 percent) for 3,731 yards, 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also contributed 705 yards rushing on 150 carries (4.7 YPC) to go along with nine rushing touchdowns.
