Falcons Sign Third-Round Pick RB Tevin Coleman

The Atlanta Falcons announced the signing of third-round pick RB Tevin Coleman on Tuesday.

Coleman was one of the last remaining draft picks to sign his contract from the Falcons’ 2015 draft class along with first-round selection Vic Beasley.

Some viewed Coleman as one of the top running backs in the draft, so it was at least a little surprising to see him drop to round three. However, he lands in a great situation, as the Falcons have some very talented players on the offensive side of the ball.

It will be interesting to see if Coleman is able to push Devonta Freeman for the starting job this summer.

According to OverTheCap.com, Coleman is projected to receive a four-year contract worth $3,034,816 and includes a signing bonus of $745,816.

During his three years at Indiana, Coleman ran for 3,219 yards on 452 carries (7.1 YPC) to go along with 54 receptions for 383 yards and 28 total touchdowns. He also contributed as the team’s kick returner during his first two years at Indiana.
