Falcons Signing DT Joe Vellano To Practice Squad, Cut DT Joey Mbu

The Atlanta Falcons announced that they are signing DT Joe Vellano to their practice squad and are cutting DT Joey Mbu to make room for him.

Vellano, 27, signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Maryland back in 2013. He was placed on waivers before he was later added to the team’s practice squad.

In 2014, Vellano totaled six tackles and a sack over the course of five games.

Mbu, 23, is an undrafted free agent out of Houston that signed on with the Falcons last year. He signed a one-year, $525,000 with Atlanta and was set to be an exclusive rights free agent after this season.

In 2015, he appeared in two game and recorded four total tackles.
