Falcons Sign Veteran S Dashon Goldson To One-Year, $1.5M Deal

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Falcons are signing veteran S Dashon Goldson to a contract following his visit wit the team earlier in the week.

  • According to Tom Pelissero, Goldson receives a one-year, $1.5 million contract from the Falcons, which includes $250,000 guaranteed and $500,000 in per-game active roster bonuses.

Earlier in the day, news broke that Falcons first-round pick Keanu Neal is expected to miss 3-4 weeks with an injury he sustained during Thursday’s preseason game, so they’re clearly looking at some available options to bolster their depth for the start of the season.

Goldson previously visited with the Rams, but didn’t receive an offer from the team.

Goldson, 31, was in the the fourth year of his five-year, $41.25 million contract that included $22 million guaranteed when he was released in a move that freed up $8 million in available cap space for the Redskins.

In 2015, Goldson appeared in 15 games for the Redskins and recorded 110 tackles, one interception returned for a touchdown, a forced fumble and three pass defenses for Washington.
