Falcons TE Jacob Tamme Getting 2nd Opinion For Shoulder Injury, May Need Season-Ending Surgery

Vaughn McClure of ESPN reports that Falcons TE Jacob Tamme is getting a second opinion for his shoulder injury on Wednesday and the possibility exists that he may require season-ending surgery, which would take place on Thursday.

Tamme, 31, is a former fourth-round pick of the Colts back in 2008. He spent four years in Indianapolis before signing on with the Broncos back in 2012.

The Falcons signed him to a two-year, $4 million contract that included $400,000 guaranteed back in March of last year. He stands to make a base salary of $1.1 million for the 2016 season and will be an unrestricted free agent next year.

In 2016, Tamme has appeared in eight games for the Falcons and caught 22 passes for 210 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 12 tight end out of 64 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Tamme’s injury as the news is available.
