Falcons’ “Top Priority” Is Signing DT Grady Jarrett To Extension

On Thursday, Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff said that signing DT Grady Jarrett to a long-term extension is their “top priority” right now, per Vaughn McClure.

Dimitroff added that they also plan to take care of WR Julio Jones and aren’t ready to give up on DE Vic Beasley, who is also an extension candidate.

The Falcons managed to sign LT Jake Matthews and S Ricardo Allen to contract extensions last year, but never got an agreement in place with Jarrett.

Jarrett, 25, is a former fifth-round pick of the Falcons back in 2015. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $2.527 million contract and set to make a base salary of $1.907 million for the 2018 season.

Jarrett will be an unrestricted free agent in March.

In 2018, Jarrett appeared in 14 games for the Falcons and recorded 53 tackles, six sacks and three forced fumbles. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 5 interior defensive lineman out of 118 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Top 25 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
