Falcons Trying To Keep CB Brent Grimes

Previous reports have mentioned that the Atlanta Falcons would most likely allow CB Brent Grimes to leave during free agency but from Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff comments today, that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Those are difficult discussions to have because they are high dollar discussions,” said Dimitroff, via Pro Football Talk. “Brent Grimes is a fine football player and we’d like to have him back. We have begun our negations with his representatives.

Ben Dogra and Tom Condon are obviously accomplished agents,” Dimitroff continued. We’re not wasting any time with our discussions. We feel like we can come to a good conclusion to this negotiation.”

The franchise tag is still in play for Atlanta so depending on whether or not they’re able to make progress on a long-term agreement, Grimes could end up with the $10.6 million tag for cornerbacks.
