Falcons Waive C James Stone With Injury Settlement

The Atlanta Falcons announced that they’ve waived C James Stone with an injury settlement on Tuesday.

The Falcons added Pro Bowl center Alex Mack in free agency, so Stone was looking at a backup role at best with the team.

Stone, 24, signed on with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee back in May of 2014. He wound up appearing in 12 games during his rookie season before later suffering a torn ACL last year that led to him being placed on season-ending injured reserve.

Stone is entering the final year of his three-year, $1.53 million rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $600,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Stone appeared in seven games for the Falcons. According to Pro Football Focus, Stone played a total of 137 snaps for the Falcons last year.
