Falcons Waive Former 2nd-Rd CB Jalen Collins

The Atlanta Falcons announced Tuesday that they’ve waived cornerback Jalen Collins.

Collins just finished serving his 10-game suspension for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff and HC Dan Quinn were expected to meet today to discuss what to do with Collins and it appears as though they elected to move in a different direction, despite investing a high pick in him a few years ago.

Collins, 24, is a former second-round pick of the Falcons back in 2015. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $5.428 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $928,439 and $1,175,159 over the next two years.

In 2016, Collins appeared in eight games and recorded 31 tackles, two interceptions and 10 pass defenses for the Falcons.
