Falcons Waive RB Gus Johnson From Practice Squad

The Atlanta Falcons are waiving RB Gus Johnson from their practice squad on Tuesday, according to Aaron Wilson.

This is a clear indication that the Falcons are signing someone to their 10-man unit.

Here’s how the Falcons’ practice squad stands as of now:

  1. DE Nordly Capi
  2. CB Devonte Johnson
  3. WR J.D. McKissic
  4. S Sharrod Neasman
  5. QB Matt Simms
  6. TE D.J. Tialavea
  7. CB Deji Olatoye
  8. DT Joe Vellano
  9. WR Nick Williams

Johnson, 23, originally signed on with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Stephen F. Austin back in May. He lasted just a few days with Oakland before he was waived and later signed on with the Cowboys.

Johnson was on and off of the Cowboys’ practice squad before signing on to the Falcons taxi squad back in October. The Falcons signed him to a future/reserve contract in January before cutting him loose a few weeks ago.

The Chargers later claimed him off of waivers, but he lasted just a few days in San Diego before returning to the Falcons’ practice squad last week.

Johnson has yet to appear in an NFL game.
