Falcons Waive Veteran G Jon Asamoah From I.R. With Injury Settlement

The Atlanta Falcons announced Monday that they’ve reached an injury settlement with veteran G Jon Asamoah and will waive him from their injured reserve list.

Asamoah, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2010. He played out his rookie contract with the Chiefs before signing a five-year, $22.5 million contract that included $8 million guaranteed with the Falcons back in March of last year.

He stands to make a base salary of $2.5 million this season and another $3.5 million in 2016. However, it’s unlikely that he’ll claimed off of waivers in the coming days.

Asamoah suffered a hip injury that led to the Falcons placing him on season-ending injured reserve at the start of the season.
