Falcons Waive WR J.D. McKissic, Sign WR B.J. Daniels To PS

The Atlanta Falcons announced that they’ve waived WR J.D. McKissic and signed WR B.J. Daniels to their practice squad on Monday.

Daniels, 26, is a former seventh-round pick of the 49ers back in 2013. He lasted less than a year in San Francisco before he was waived and later claimed by the Seahawks.

Daniels was off of the Seahawks’ practice squad for over two years before the Texans signed him to their active roster in December of last year. Unfortunately, Daniels’ stay in Houston lasted just a few months, as he was waived in the weeks leading up to this year’s draft.

The Giants elected to signed Daniels to a contract in May, but was cut loose just a month later. The Bears signed Daniels to a contract in July but he was unfortunately among their roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

In 2015, Daniels appeared in eight games and record one catch for 12 yards receiving to go along with six rushes for for six yards and no touchdowns. He also completed one of two passes for seven yards.

McKissic, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Falcons as an undrafted free agent out of Arkansas State back in May. He was, unfortunately, waived coming out of the preseason but was later signed to their practice squad.

The Falcons promoted him to their active roster last week after they sustained some injuries at receiver.

During his college career, McKissic caught 289 passes for 2,838 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns to go along with 379 yards rushing on 47 carries (8.1 YPC) and two rushing touchdowns.
