Gottschalk, 26, signed on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of SMU back in 2014. He was unable to make Kansas City’s 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but was later added to their practice squad.
After a brief stint with the Buccaneers, Gottschalk signed on with the 49ers in 2015 before he was waived during the preseason. The Buccaneers elected to bring him back on a futures contract in 2015, but they eventually made the decision to cut him loose after last year’s draft with a failed physical designation.
In 2016, Gottschalk appeared in two games for the Buccaneers.
