Former Bears WR Earl Bennett Could Be An Option For The Buccaneers

 

New Buccaneers HC Lovie Smith mentioned that the team isn’t done with free agency just yet and the

“We feel we’re in the fourth quarter (of free agency) now, but it’s all about how you finish and hopefully we can bring in a couple more,” Smith said, via the Tampa Tribune.

Roy Cummings suggests that former Bears WR Earl Bennett could be an option for the Buccaneers to consider in the next few days.

Tampa Bay has already met with the WR Louis Murphy in recent days, so they are clearly looking to add another receiver in free agency.

Bennett spent a number of years with Smith in Chicago, but saw his role decline last season. After refusing to accept a pay cut, he was cut loose a few days ago.

Last year, Bennett appeared in 15 games and totaled 32 receptions for 243 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 72 receiver in the league in 2013.
