Matt Barnes of NBC 4 reports that former Dolphins and Rams RB Isaiah Pead is in critical condition after he was involved in a car crash Friday night.

  • Adam Schefter confirms the news and adds that Pead is still in critical condition after undergoing surgery this morning.
  • According to NBC 4, Pead lost control of his vehicle at approximately 2:32 a.m. Saturday morning and drove off the side of Interstate 670, the Columbus Division of Police. Pead’s car went through a guardrail and down an embankment, striking several trees along the way and Pead was ejected from the vehicle.
  • A passenger, Wesley Richardson, 27, was in stable condition.

Pead’s friend, NBA PF Jared Sullinger, sent out a tweet asking for prayers for Pead.

Pead has worked out for a few teams in recent weeks after he was waived by the Dolphins.

Pead, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Rams back in 2012. He was in the final year of his four-year, $4.038 million rookie contract when St. Louis waived him a few months ago.

The Steelers later signed him to a contract after Le’Veon Bell got hurt, but he lasted just a few weeks in Pittsburgh. The Dolphins wound up signing him to a contract back in March and he managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was cut loose a few weeks ago as Miami had a number of changes to their roster.

In 2016, Pead has appeared in three games and rushed for 22 yards on eight carries (2.8 YPC) to go along with one reception for six yards receiving and no touchdowns for the Dolphins.

We’ll have more updates regarding Pead and his condition as the news is available. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.
