Former Giants HC Tom Coughlin Joining NFL’s Football Operations Department

Jim Trotter of ESPN reports that former Giants coach Tom Coughlin has agreed to join NFL’s football operations department.

Coughlin and the Giants agreed that he would be “stepping down” as their head coach, and the team elected to promote OC Ben McAdoo to head coach.

Shortly after that, Coughlin interviewed with both the 49ers and Eagles, but didn’t get either job. He has said previously that he hasn’t ruled out coaching if an opportunity surfaced for him.

However, it looks like he’ll focus on helping the league’s football operations department for the immediate future.

Coughlin, 69, spent 12 years Giants’ head coach and has led them to a record of 102-90 (53.1 percent) to go along with five playoff appearances and two Super Bowl titles.
