Former Jets & Chiefs RB Joe McKnight Shot & Killed

Update:

TMZ Sports reports that Joe McKnight was killed by a 54-year-old white male named Ronald Gasser.

According to TMZ, police are investigating the case as a road rage incident and are still trying to figure out what exactly led to the shooting.

Gasser stayed at the scene and reportedly turned over his gun without issue. Police have detained Gasser while they investigate the matter and question him about his role.

Former NFL RB Joe McKnight was shot and killed in Terrytown, Louisiana Thursday afternoon after an argument that took place at an intersection, according to the Times-Picayune.

A witness said that she was leaving a state when see saw a man at the intersection yelling at another man, who was apologizing for something. According to the witness, the man who was yelling shot the other man.

The shooter said “I told you don’t you f— with me” and then fired at the victim again.

McKnight, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Jets back in 2010. He spent three years with the Jets before signing on with the Chiefs 2014. For his career, McKnight totaled 505 yards rushing on 113 carries (4.5 YPC) to go along with 23 receptions for 241 yards receiving and two touchdowns over the course of four seasons. He also totaled 2,270 kick return yards.
