Former Jets WR Devin Smith Goes Unclaimed, Now Free Agent

On Tuesday, former Jets WR Devin Smith officially passed through waivers unclaimed, which means he’s now free to sign with a team of his choosing.

The Jets officially waived Smith yesterday to make room for S Brandon Bryant.

Since entering the NFL, Smith has suffered two torn ACLs and has struggled to regain his prior form.

Smith, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Jets back in 2015. He was in the final year of his four-year, $5.872 million rookie contract that includes $3.667 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $705,000 for the 2018 season when the Jets waived him.

In 2016, Smith was limited to appearing in just four games and caught one pass for 20 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
