Former Lions RB Mikel Leshoure Signs With BC Lions Of The CFL

The BC Lions of the Canadian Football League announced Friday that they’ve signed former Lions RB Mikel Leshoure to a contract.

Leshoure, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Detroit Lions back in 2011. He spent just three years with the team before he cut loose as the Lions trimmed their roster down to 53 players at the start of the 2014 season.

Since being released, Leshoure worked out for a number of teams including the Broncos, Saints, Bears and Colts, but never received another opportunity in the NFL.

Over the course of his career in the NFL, Leshoure has totaled 807 yards rushing on 217 carries (3.7 YPC) and contributed 214 yards receiving and nine total touchdowns.
