Former NFL RB Trent Richardson Arrested For Domestic Violence

Scott Swan of WTHR reports that former NFL RB Trent Richardson was arrested for a domestic violence incident that recently took place in Alabama.

According to Swan, Richardson was involved in an argument with a female that left her with scratches and bruises on her face. Richardson has been charged with one count of third-degree domestic violence.

Here’s a statement from police regarding the incident:

Officers were able to make contact with an adult male and adult female who were involved in a domestic altercation. After interviewing both parties it was determined that the two individuals had been arguing earlier while at the Walmart on John Hawkins Parkway and that the dispute continued after they arrived back at the hotel. At some point the situation turned physical and the female sustained injuries (scratches and bruising) about her face.”

It’s clear that Richardson’s NFL career is over, even though he worked out for the Chiefs last November.

Richardson, 26, was taken with the No. 3 overall pick by the Browns in 2012 NFL draft. However, he lasted just over a year in Cleveland before he was traded to the Colts for a first-round pick.

The Raiders elected to sign him to a two-year, $3.85 million contract that included $600,000 guaranteed back in 2015 only to release him during roster cuts.

Richardson worked out for the Ravens last year but had to get in shape before the team later signed him to a one-year deal worth $675,000. However, he was waived soon after.

In 2014, he ran for 519 yards on 159 carries (3.3 YPC) to go along with 27 receptions for 229 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 29 running back out of 57 qualifying players.
