Former Oregon TE Colt Lyerla Trying Out For Packers

Rob Demovsky of ESPN posted the Packers rookie orientation roster on Friday and, interestingly enough, it included former Oregon TE Colt Lyerla.

No one took a chance on Lyerla during the draft, but it seemed like there was a decent enough chance that a team could sign him as an undrafted free agent, despite the numerous off-the-field concerns.

However, that never happened and now his best shot at making an NFL roster is to impress the Packers during his tryout.

Last year, he missed a game during the season and was later suspended for a against Colorado. Lyerla later made the decision to quit the team only to be arrested and later pleaded guilty to the unlawful possession of cocaine.

The Packers could really use some extra competition at tight end, but there is no question that Lyerla is a big gamble moving forward.
