Former Texans RB Andre Brown Clears Waivers, Free To Sign Anywhere

Recently released RB Andre Brown cleared waivers Tuesday, making him free to sign with any team, according to Adam Schefter.

In a somewhat surprising move, the Texans released Brown on Monday before he ever took a regular season snap with the team.  He was expected to back-up RB Arian Foster this year, at least before it was recently announced that Brown was fifth on the running back depth chart.

Brown, 27, spent one season with the Broncos, before joining the New York Giants in 2012.  In 2013, he ran for 492 yards on 139 carries.  He added three touchdowns.

With the recent injury to RB David Wilson, it would seem that a reunion between Brown and the Giants could work.  Ed Werder reported however, that Giants GM Jerry Reeseseems comfortable” with the running backs on the roster.
