South Carolina RB Marcus Lattimore joined the Dan Patrick show Tuesday and mentioned that the 49ers, Eagles, Patriots, and Rams have shown the most interest throughout the draft process, per Charlie Bernstein.
There is bound to be other NFL teams monitoring Lattimore throughout the draft, at least we have an idea of some potential landing spots for Lattimore.
San Francisco stands out as a team to watch given that they have plenty of draft picks to work with and it’s not as though they would need Lattimore to step in and contribute right away. They could essentially red-shirt him during his first year in the league and ensure that his surgically rebuilt knee is progressing according to plan.
Lattimore visited with the Patriots and Rams towards the end of March, so it’s not surprising to hear them connected to the young running back.
It’s hard to project where he’ll end up going in this year’s draft, but I’d guess that he could come off the board in the latter portion of round four or possibly during round five.
