Franchise Tag Coming For Joe Flacco?

Albert Breer of the NFL Network tweets that the Ravens are prepared to franchise QB Joe Flacco at the end of the season if they’re unable to reach an agreement on a long-term contract.

The two sides have been discussing a deal for months now, but Flacco’s performance this season doesn’t lineup with his overall asking price, which makes it seem as though the franchise tag is the more plausible option for the Ravens.

Pro Football Focus has Flacco rated as the No. 25 best qualifying quarterback this season.

Breer adds that if the Ravens do in fact use their franchise tag on Flacco, there’s a reasonable enough chance that S Ed Reed will hit the open market.

We have Flacco listed as the No. 10 best available player, mainly because he’s the only legitimate starting quarterback option on the market, and Ed Reed as the No. 34 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
