Frank Gore 49er For Life?

San Francisco 49ers G.M. Trent Baalke addressed the contract negotiations with RB Frank Gore by mentioning that he would like to keep Gore in San Francisco for the remainder of his career.

The best thing we can say is we’re doing everything we can to make Frank a 49er for life and whether that gets accomplished in the near future or not remains to be seen,” Baalke told Pat Kirwan and Tim Ryan of SiriusXM NFL Radio.  “But Frank’s a 49er.  He’s a heck of a football player, he’s a heck of a young man, and he’s a leader.  You can’t say enough good things about Frank.”

The teams intentions were not in question but the fact remains that Gore and his representation are looking for a deal that’s similar to DeAngelo Williams five year, $43 million with $21 million guaranteed contract. The problem is that Gore has a history of injuries, is currently 29, and plays an the most unforgiving position in the NFL were there’s a premium on fresh legs and speed. It’s hard to image that the 49ers would be willing to even get close to Williams contract considering that the 2012 market for free agents is so deep. Adrian Peterson, Arian Foster (restricted), Ray RiceMatt Forte and Peyton Hillis will all be available next year.

We have Gore listed as the No. 39 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

Would you be willing to sign Frank Gore to a similar deal as the one DeAngelo Williams got from Carolina?
