Frank Gore Requesting A Trade Out Of San Francisco?

San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore threatened to holdout during the short lived free agency period but ultimately chose to join the team after the two sides agreed to work a new deal but as Pro Football Talk reports, those talks are at a standstill.

Mike Florio writes that a source close to situation has informed him that Gore is looking for a simliar deal to the one that DeAngelo Williams signed a little over a month ago. Florio also notes that the situation is considered to be “volatile,” and  “the next step could be a trade request.”

Gore, 28, is in the final year of his contract which will pay him $4.9 million for the 2011 season. Considering that he’ll be 29 at the start of next season, he’s had a couple serious injuries (Hip) and plays runningback, it’s hard to image that teams are going to be willing to give him a similar deal to the one that Williams signed with Carolina. Next years crop of free agent running backs is very deep (Adrian Peterson, Arian Foster, Ray Rice, Matt Forte, Peyton Hillis) and the fact that Gore is the oldest of this group doesn’t help his chances any. We have Gore listed as the No. 39 overall player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
