Fred Jackson Likely To Receive Contract Extension After The Draft

Joe Buscaglia of WGR 550 Sports Radio reports that RB Fred Jackson‘s agent, Ron Raccuia, is “confident” that the Bills will have a long-term extension in place with Jackson before the start of training camp which opens in July.

Because the Bills aggressively pursued defensive line free agents like Mario Williams and Mark Anderson, which has forced Jackson’s contract situation to take a back seat.  Bills GM Buddy Nix has repeatedly said that Jackson will receive a new deal before the start of the season.

Buddy Nix has been honest and consistent with us all along,” said Jackson’s agent Raccuia. “I’m confident talks will get started in the next couple of months.”

It’s very likely that the Bills are currently focused on the draft, but they will most likely turn their attention to Jackson afterwards. I’m sure Matt Forte will be paying close attention to what the Bills give a 31-year-old running back.
