Free Agent CB Brandon Boykin Has Career-Threatening Hip Injury?

Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Gazette has heard that free agent CB Brandon Boykin has a hip injury that could be a career-threatening issue.

There was some talk in recent days that this could be the case, and it would explain why Boykin has bounced around a bit since entering the NFL.

Boykin recently worked out for the Falcons, and took a physical for the team. However, the Falcons did not sign him to a contract after the visit, which could point to complications found after the physical.

Todd Archer of ESPN reported on Tuesday that the Cowboys are also meeting with Boykin at some point in the near future.

Boykin, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Eagles back in 2012. He was traded to the Steelers last year for a 2016 fifth round pick after Pittsburgh sustained some injuries at cornerback.

The Panthers elected to sign him to a one-year contract back in March before cutting him loose close to a month ago.

In 2015, Boykin was active for all 16 games and recorded 25 tackles, one sack, an interception, a forced fumble and five pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 38 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.

We have him featured in our Best Available Free Agents list.
