No Guarantee Brooks Reed Signs With Falcons, O’Brien Schofield Could Be An Option

Update:

Vaughn McClure reports that it’s not exactly certain that free agent OLB Brooks Reed is leaning toward the Falcons. McClure instead expects his decision to come down to money.

According to McClure, a pass rusher to keep an eye on for the Falcons is Seahawks free agent O’Brien Schofield.

Schofield, 27, appeared in all 16 games for the Seahawks last year and recorded 21 tackles, three sacks and a fumble recovery. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 26 outside linebacker out of 59 qualifying players.

We have Franklin listed as the No. 71 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.

Rand Getlin reports that free agent OLB Brooks Reed is leaning toward signing with the Falcons at the start of free agency on Tuesday.

  • Vaughn McClure previously reported that four teams have expressed interest Reed with the Falcons being among this group.

Reed, 28, will be an unrestricted free agent in the coming days and all signs have been that he would test the open market this offseason, so this news shouldn’t come as a big surprise.

In 2014, Reed recorded 41 tackles, two sacks, an interception, and four pass defenses for the Texans. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 26 outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense out of 46 qualifying players.

We have Reed listed as the No. 68 player in our Top 100 Free Agents list.
