Free Agent DT Kevin Williams Has Been In Contact With Vikings About A Possible Return

Free agent DT Kevin Williams tells Sirius XM NFL Radio that he has recently spoken to the Vikings about a potential return.

“They might be trying to ease back in the picture,” Williams said of the Vikings on SiriusXM NFL Radio, via Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com. “We’ll know more maybe as the week goes on.”

“My main criteria has really been having a chance to win and playing with a proven quarterback,” Williams said. “Those things are huge when you get older, you want to have that chance to get in the dance and just be there to have a chance at the end of the season. You don’t want to take that beating all year to just go home for another offseason. . . .

“The game in the trenches is tough enough as it is, and to not be playing for something at the end is tough at this point.

Williams confirmed that he has visited with the SeahawksGiants and Patriots this offseason.

It appears as though these teams offering close to the veteran’s minimum for his services, which would pay Williams $955,000 based on the fact that he has been in the league for over 10 years.

Williams, 34, has spent eleven seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, and was considered one of the best interior lineman in the league for a large potion of his career.

In 2013, he totaled 28 tackles, 3.5 sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery. Pro Football Focus rated Williams as the No. 27 interior defensive linemen in the league.

We have him listed as the No. 3 player in our recently updated Top 50 – Best Available Free Agents list.
