Free Agent DT Kevin Williams Leaves Visit With The Giants Without A Contract

Update:

Free agent DT Kevin Williams tells the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that has left his Giants visit without a contract.

Had a good visit and gonna see what happens!” Williams said via text message.

It doesn’t sound as though he has another visit lined up at this point in time. A return to the Vikings was mentioned as a potential options a few months ago, but Minnesota has since ruled out a return.

Williams, 34, has spent eleven seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, and was considered one of the best interior lineman in the league for a large potion of his career.

In 2013, he totaled 28 tackles, 3.5 sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery.  Pro Football Focus rated Williams as the No. 27 interior defensive linemen in the league.

We have him listed as the No. 7 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.

Mark Craig of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that free agent DT Kevin Williams is meeting with the Giants on Tuesday.

“I’m not sure what’s going to happen,” Williams told Craig. “I played 11 years in Minnesota. It didn’t work out there and this is my first visit with another team. I’m not sure how to feel. It’s all new to me.”

Williams flew to New Jersey Monday night and had dinner with some of the coaching staff. His visit is spilling over into Tuesday.

“I had a good visit [Monday night],” Williams said. “It’s different. That’s for sure. But I would like to keep playing, so we’ll see how it goes [Tuesday].
