Free Agent DT Khyri Thornton Suspended 10 Games For PED Violation

Field Yates reports that free agent DT Khyri Thornton has been suspended 10 gamesĀ for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs.

Thornton, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Packers back in 2014. However, despite his draft status, Thornton lasted just a little over a year in Green Bay before he was waivedĀ at the start of the 2015 season.

After a brief stint with the Patriots, the Lions later claimed him off of waivers during the 2015 season and he finished out the year in Detroit before returning on a two-year, $3.3 million contract this past March.

Thornton wasĀ suspended for the firstĀ six games of the 2017 seasonĀ for violating the NFL policy and program for substance abuse. Detroit just recently elected to cut Thornton loose and he signed on with the Giants a month before being waived a few weeks later.

In 2017, Thornton has appeared in four games for the Lions and recorded four tackles and no sacks.
