Free Agent LB DeMeco Ryans Still Hoping To Play In 2016, But Admits He May Not Get An Opportunity

Free agent LB DeMeco Ryans says that he would like to continue his NFL career, but admits that he may not get the opportunity.

“Either way, I’m happy spending time with the family,” Ryans said, via AL.com. “It’s just a blessing for me to be able to play 10 years in the NFL and have a great career. I have no regrets about it, so it’s great either way. If I could play again, that’ll be great. If not, that’s great as well.

Ryans added that he would love to have an opportunity to compete for a Super Bowl title.

“Like the Game 7 last night for the (NBA) title, you want to be in that position as a true competitor,” Ryans said. “That’s what you dream about as a kid — playing in the championship game when it’s all on the line and trying to get the ring. So that’s something I look forward to. But if it doesn’t happen, I’m fine.”

Since Ryans became available back in February, there hasn’t been any reported interest in him.

Ryans, 31, is a former second-round pick of the Texans back in 2006. He spent six years in Texans before he was traded to the Eagles in 2012.

Ryans was in the final year of his a two-year, $7.5 million contract when he was released in a move that freed up $3.5 million in available cap space for the Eagles several months ago.

In 2015, Ryans appeared in 14 games and recorded 49 tackles, one interception, a forced fumble and five pass defenses.
