Field Yates of ESPN is reporting that free agent QB Mark Sanchez has been suspended for the first four games of the 2018 NFL season for an undisclosed violation.

There hasn’t been any serious interest in Sanchez this offseason, but he was tossed out as a potential option for the Seahawks’ backup quarterback job following the release of Trevone Boykin a few weeks ago.

However, a four-game suspension isn’t going to help his chances of catching on with a new team.

Sanchez, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Jets back in 2009. He spent five years in New York before signing on with the Eagles in 2014 after the Jets cut him loose.

Sanchez later returned to Philadelphia on a two-year contract before being traded to the Broncos in return for a 2017 conditional pick that wasn’t exercised. The Cowboys elected to sign Sanchez to a contract for the 2016 season and after one year in Dallas, he signed a one-year contract with the Bears last offseason.

In 2016, Sanchez appeared in two games for the Cowboys and completed 10 of 18 pass attempts for 93 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions.
