Free Agent TE Kellen Winslow Hoping To Play For Packers

Free agent TE Kellen Winslow mentioned that he’s still hoping to sign with the Packers and play with Aaron Rodgers.

“I want to go to Green Bay,” Winslow said, via TMZ Sports. “I really want to play for the Packers and catch passes from Aaron Rodgers. I think he’s the best quarterback in the league with Drew Brees and Tom Brady and guys like that.

I had one of my biggest games up there and I felt at home there. That’s when I was with Tampa back in the day when I really felt at home there. And there’s no place like Lambeau Field. No place in the world like Lambeau Field. So I want to be a Packer.

Winslow added that still believes he can be a top-10 tight end in the NFL, despite being out of the league for a period.

“I still have my ability and I still feel like I can be one of the top 10 guys in the league even with being out because I haven’t stopped training for it,” Winslow said. “I’ve even ramped up my training more. So I can’t just give up on my ability, you know. Especially someone that was born into the game, watching my dad, watching all the greats, football is all I know, man.”

“I have some interest from some teams but it’s all about the GMs pulling the trigger on me,” Winslow said.

The Packers are clearly looking for some help at tight end with Jared Cook dealing with a high-ankle sprain, so it’s possible they could sign one in the coming weeks.

Winslow worked out for Green Bay back in August but wasn’t offered a contract following the session.

Winslow, 33, is a former first-round pick of the Browns back in 2004. He spent four years in Cleveland before joining the Buccaneers in 2009. Since then, he’s played for the Seahawks, Patriots and Jets.

In 2015, In 2013, Winslow appeared in 12 games and recorded 31 receptions for 388 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
