Free agents DT Ricky Jean-Francois & LB Arthur Brown Visiting Seahawks On Friday

Ian Rapoport reports that the Seahawks are bringing in free agent DT Ricky Jean-Francois and LB Arthur Brown for visits on Friday.

The Redskins released Jean-Francois yesterday, so it appears his market is heating up fast.

Francois, 30, is a former seventh-round pick of the 49ers back in 2009. He played four seasons for San Francisco before departing and signing on with the Colts as an unrestricted free agent.

After two years, the Colts cut Jean-Francois loose and he signed a three-year, $9 million contract with the Redskins in February of 2015. He was set to make a base salary of $2.75 million for the 2017 season.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Jean-Francois freed up $3 million of available cap space while creating $1 million in dead money.

In 2016, Jean Francois appeared in all 16 games for the Redskins and recorded 32 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a pass defense. ProFootballFocus rated him as the No. 45 overall interior defender out of 127 qualifying players.

Brown, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Ravens but hasn’t come close to living up to his draft status. Brown is in the final year of his four-year, $3.554 million contract.

The Ravens cut Brown loose coming out of the preseason and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Jaguars. However, Brown’s stay in Jacksonville was limited to just a few weeks, as he was waived and later claimed by the Jets.

New York moved on from Brown back in December and the Patriots worked him out shortly afterwards, but never signed him to a contract. This is the first team to show interest in him since then.

In 2016, Brown appeared in 14 games and recorded three tackles for the Jaguars and Jets

We’ll have more regarding Jean-Francois, Brown, and the Seahawks as the news is available.
