Eagles Release FS Kenny Phillips

Update:

Pro Football Talk reports that the Eagles have released FS Kenny Phillips.

Phillips original plan to rehab his value with the Eagles and will now be on the wait for another team to give him a chance. The few times Phillips has been able to remain healthy, has been able to show an All-Pro type level of play.

Jeff Mclane of the Philadelphia Inquirer believes there is a chance the Eagles cut FS Kenny Phillips.

Come Tuesday, all NFL teams will be forced to trim down their rosters to 75 players total. The Eagles clearly need help at safety next to SS Patrick Chung, however health issues could be Phillips’ down fall in Philly.

Phillips has missed the last two preseason games with the team due to a quadriceps injury and his lingering knee issues, which have been slow to heal, have also kept him absent from training camp for a considerable amount of time.

At this point Nate Allen is the favorite to start at free safety alongside Chung in the starting lineup.
