Further Tests Reveal Bills QB A.J. McCarron Did Not Suffer Fractured Collarbone

Adam Schefter reports that further tests on Bills QB A.J. McCarron‘s injured shoulder revealed that he did not suffer a fractured collarbone.

According to Schefter, McCarron is expected to return to practice soon.

Following the team’s second preseason game, reports surfaced that McCarron had a hairline fracture in his collarbone, but he planned to undergo further testing on the injury and it looks like he got some good news.

The Bills announced that they will start rookie QB Josh Allen this weekend, but it sounds like McCarron could play again before the start of the regular season.

McCarron, 27, is a former fifth-round pick of the Bengals back in 2014. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2,401,652 contract and made a base salary of $690,000 for the 2017 season and was testing the free agent market for the first time in his career.

McCarron won a grievance against the Bengals that stemmed from the team’s decision to place him on the non-football injury list (NFI) at the start of training camp due to a shoulder issue during his rookie year, which allowed him to test the free agent market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

The Bills later signed McCarron to a two-year, $10 million contract.

In 2017, McCarron appeared in three games for the Bengals and completed 7 of 14 passes for 66 yards to go along with no touchdowns or interceptions.
