Geno Smith Could Be Active For Jets In Week 3

Jets HC Todd Bowles told reporters on Wednesday that QB Geno Smith could be active for their Week 3 match up against the Eagles, per Manish Mehta.

Smith has been medically cleared following a broken jaw he sustained after former teammate IK Enemkpali punched over a dispute in the Jets’ locker room.

Bowles added that Smith was able to participate in today’s practice, even though he was expected to miss 6-10 weeks.

Earlier in the week, Bowles made it clear that Ryan Fitzpatrick was going to be their starting quarterback after they managed to win their first two games of the regular season.

Smith would operate his Fitzpatrick’s backup in the event he’s activated in the coming days.

Smith, 24, is entering his third season with the Jets and was in line for a make-or-break situation. However, we may not see him appear in a game until midway through the season.

Last year, Smith appeared in 14 games and threw for 2,525 and completed 59.7 percent of his passes to go along with 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
