Giants Activate DE Jason Pierre-Paul, Place LB Jon Beason On I.R.

The Giants officially activated DE Jason Pierre-Paul on Saturday and placed LB Jon Beason on season-ending injured reserve.

  • The Giants also waived DL Louis Nix.

Pierre-Paul, 26, played out his five-year, $20.05 million rookie contract that included $11,629,807 million guaranteed. The Giants wound up signing him to a one-year deal worth up to $8.71 million based on incentives.

In 2014, Pierre-Paul recorded 77 tackles, 12.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and a recovery over the course of 16 games. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 7 defensive end in a 4-3 system out of 59 qualifying players.

Beason, 30, signed a three-year, $16.8 million contract that includes $6.03 million guaranteed. He stands to make $1.9 million and $2.8 million over the remainder of the deal.
