Giants WR Victor Cruz joined Mike Francesa of CBS New York today and mentioned that his agent and the team have “agreed on the structure” of a new contract.
“From what I hear, they’ve just agreed on the structure right now,” said Cruz. “And that’s all I’m at liberty to say.”
The two sides have been discussing a long-term agreement for a little while now, so this doesn’t exactly come out of nowhere. Cruz is set to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season, but locking him up now makes plenty of sense given that he’s developed into one of the leagues best receivers in a short period of time.
“Hopefully this leads to the right track and we’ll get it done sooner than later,” said Cruz.
We have Cruz listed as the No. 2 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
