Giants & DE Osi Umenyiora Are “Very Far Apart” Regarding A Contract Talks

ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio reported on SportsCenter this afternoon that contract talks between the New York Giants and DE Osi Umenyiora are not progressing and the two sides remain “very far apart.”

Paolantonio adds that the Giants have a mandatory minicamp scheduled for June 12-15, so this figures to be the next check point in regards to his future with the team.

Umenyiora has been looking a new contract for a number of year’s now, but the Giants have been reluctant to meet his asking price, which has resulted in numerous trade rumors. Once again, this could be a topic that heats up in the coming months.
