Giants & Bills Believed To Have Blueprint Of Trade For No. 2 Pick?

Tony Pauline of Draft Anaylst.com reports that several sources he’s spoken to have speculated that the Giants and Bills likely have a blueprint for a trade that would allow Buffalo to move up to No. 2 overall.

However, Pauline’s sources believe the trade wouldn’t happen until very late in the process, if at all. According to Pauline, the Giants want to continue fielding trade offers for the pick in the weeks leading up to the draft.

The Giants are one of the more interesting teams to watch in round one, seeing as they could go a number of ways at No. 2 overall.

If the reports of the Browns possibly taking Josh Allen to open the draft prove to be accurate, New York may have a tough time passing on a quarterback like Sam Darnold. Otherwise, they could grab one of the top non-quarterback prospects such as RB Saquon Barkley or DE Bradley Chubb.

Should the Giants decide to trade the pick to a quarterback-needy team like the Bills for a massive haul, it would set the stage for quarterbacks to be taken with the first three picks and could result in either the Browns or Broncos auctioning off the No. 4 or No. 5 pick for whoever’s still available out of Allen, Darnold, Josh Rosen and Baker Mayfield.

We’ll have more regarding a potential draft trade involving the Giants and Bills as the news is available.

  1. I think it will be way too expensive for the Bills to move all the way up to 2. The Jets paid up and set the bar extremely high. Using the “draft value” chart as a reference:
    2nd pick = 2,600
    3rd pick = 2,200
    Jets traded 6 (1,600), 37th (530), 49th (410) and 2019 2nd (500?) = approx 3,000. That’s 800 points over fair value.
Bills have 21(800), 22 (780), 53 (370), 56 (340), 65 (265), 96 (116), 121 (52), 158 (28.2), 166 (25) = 2776.2. That’s all their picks and they would only get to close to equal and fair value. They would have to throw in next years 1st or 2nd and 3rd. Basically mortgaging the farm! It would be a huge risk. Unless the Giants are willing to give a discount. Why would they?

    • The Bill now have the 12th and 22nd picks, not the 21st and 22nd. They could close the deal with those two picks and their 2019 first.

      • You’re right, I forgot to update their trade. The current value for 12(1,200), 22 (780) and let’s estimate 2019 at 21 (800) is only around 2800. The 2nd overall is worth 2600. They will need to throw in their 2 2nd’s as well. Still pretty expensive.
