Giants GM Jerry Reese told reporters on Sunday that they’ve had “some discussions” about signing OL Justin Pugh and C Weston Richburg to long-term extensions, per Jordan Raanan.
The Giants picked up Pugh’s fifth-year option back in April, which will run them $8.8 million in 2017. However, this figure is guaranteed only for injury and won’t prevent them from working on a long-term extension over the next year.
Pugh, 25, was selected No. 19 overall by the Giants back in 2013. He’s currently in the final year of his four-year, $8.346 million contract that included a $4,449,744 signing bonus and a base salary of $1,157,307 for the 2016 season.
In 2015, Pugh appeared in 14 games and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 9 offensive tackle out of 77 qualifying players.
Richburg, 25, is a former second-round pick of the Giants back in 2014. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $4,877,346 rookie contract and stands to make base salaries of $863,394 and $1,085,091 over the final two years of the agreement.
In 2015, Richburg appeared in 15 games for the Giants and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 3 center out of 39 qualifying players.
