Giants Exercise CB Prince Amukamara’s Fifth-Year Option

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Giants have exercised CB Prince Amukamara‘s fifth-year option.

The Giants will owe Amukamara $6.898 million for the 2015 season. However, this figure is guaranteed only for injury and won’t prevent the team from working on a long-term extension that would reduce his salary.

Recent reports mentioned that the Giants weren’t sure what to do with Amukamara’s option. After all, they signed numerous cornerbacks in free agent including  Dominique Rodgers-CromartieWalter Thurmondand Zack Bowman.

Amukamara, 24, appeared in all 16 games for the Giants last season and totaled 85 tackles, one interception and two forced fumbles.

Pro Football Focus rated Amukamara as the No. 32 cornerback in the league last season and a particularly solid run-defender.
