Giants Get Good News Regarding G Geoff Schwartz

Update:

The Giants announced Tuesday that they have received good news regarding G Geoff Schwartz and his toe injury.

Schwartz will not be out for the season and is instead considered to be “week-to-week.” He will, however, be in a walking boot for 7-10 days.

“This is just a minor setback,” Schwartz said of the injury. “I plan on attacking the rehab program so I can get back on the field as soon as possible with my teammates and help us win games.

Giants free agent acquisition G Geoff Schwartz was carted off the field during Friday’s third preseason game after he suffered a dislocated toe.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Schwartz will see a foot specialist Saturday and undergo an MRI on his injured toe. However, Rapoport adds that “it does not sound good.

  • Mike Garafolo mentions that opinions are “split” on how long Schwartz could be out.

Worst-case scenario for the Giants would be that Schwartz would require surgery on his toe and miss an extended period of time.

New York is installing a new offensive system this year and the early results from preseason have suggested that there is plenty of work to be done across the board, so it would be an issue to not have a quality interior offensive lineman like Schwartz available.

Schwartz, 28, signed four-year, $16.8 million contract that included $6.2 million guaranteed with the Giants back in March. We’ll have more updates as the news is available.
